When the Police Come Down to Manage Agriculture, Prabowo Says This is Strategic

GORONTALO - President Prabowo Subianto considers the involvement of the police, TNI, and technical ministries in food affairs is not strange. According to him, food is too important if it is only charged to one sector.

This was conveyed by Prabowo when he gave a speech at the Summit of the XVII National Farmers and Fishermen Week in Gorontalo Regency, Wednesday, June 24.

"Only in Indonesia does the police take care of agriculture. Only in Indonesia is the army often in the rice fields. Only in Indonesia does the air force plant sugar cane," said Prabowo.

The statement was greeted with cheers from the participants. However, Prabowo emphasized that the cross-agency involvement was not just a funny sight on the field.

"But this is strategic," he said.

According to Prabowo, the success of food self-sufficiency is not born from the work of one person. He said that he only gave directions, while the ministers, officials, and farmers were the main players in the field.

He used the metaphor of football. The president, he said, is like a manager off the field. While the ministers and program implementers are coaches, captains, and players.

"These are the strikers. I give directions. If they don't fight, we won't be self-sufficient in food," said Prabowo.

Prabowo also expressed his appreciation to officials who worked in the food program. According to him, the words of thanks were not empty words.

He emphasized that food self-sufficiency requires hard work, coordination, and the courage to see one's own shortcomings. Therefore, the government will continue to strengthen food production from villages, rice fields, to the distribution chain.
