Chairman of Commission III of the DPR asked the West Java Police to give Taufik Hidayat a heavy sentence: Don't hesitate to use layered articles
JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission III of the DPR, Habiburokhman, appreciates the West Java Police for successfully arresting the fugitive perpetrator of the kidnapping and abuse of a woman in Bandung. He asked the police not to hesitate to punish the perpetrator, Taufik Hidayat (30) using layered articles.
"I as the Chairman of Commission III of the DPR give the highest appreciation to the West Java Police Chief and all levels of the police who have moved quickly, responded, and tactically arrested the suspect Taufik Hidayat, the perpetrator of kidnapping and heinous persecution of a woman in Bandung," said Habiburokhman in his statement, Wednesday, June 24.
According to him, this quick action shows the strong commitment of the West Java Police in providing a sense of security in the community, as well as proving that the state is present and does not provide any room for violence against women.
Habiburokhman encouraged that the perpetrators be charged with layered articles, both regulated by the Criminal Code and the Law on Sexual Violence Crimes (UU TPKS).
"The case carried out by Taufik Hidayat is very disturbing our sense of humanity. Therefore, I ask and urge law enforcement officers not to hesitate to trap the perpetrators with layered legal articles with the threat of the heaviest punishment," said Habiburokhman.
"We must use all available legal instruments, both the Criminal Code regarding kidnapping and severe persecution, and the Sexual Violence Crime Act (TPKS Law) if in the development of the investigation there are elements of these," he said.
The Gerindra legislator assessed that the maximum and layered punishment for Taufik Hidayat was not only for the sake of justice for the victim who had experienced deep trauma, but also as a stern warning and a real deterrent for anyone not to commit similar heinous acts.
"Commission III of the DPR RI will continue to monitor the course of this legal process until it is completed in court," concluded Habiburokhman.
