Gerindra Denies Issue of Meeting to Watch Gibran, Calls it Hoax and Prepare Somasi
JAKARTA - The Gerindra Party faction of the Indonesian House of Representatives has denied the issue of a special meeting led by the Chairman of the Gerindra Faction, Budi Djiwandono, which discussed the request to monitor the movement of Vice President (Wapres) Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
Secretary of the Gerindra Faction of the DPR, Bambang Haryadi, said that the issue circulating on social media was not true. From the Gerindra Faction meetings, which Budi always attended, according to him, there was never a discussion about it.
"I have always been present and participated in leading meetings in the Gerindra Faction and there is no order or discussion of this matter," said Bambang, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, June 24.
He revealed that the correct information was that the Gerindra Faction of the DPR RI asked its members to monitor the economic conditions of the people in their respective electoral districts.
In addition, members of the Gerindra Faction of the DPR RI are also asked to ensure that government programs run well in the community.
"What exists is an order to monitor the availability of food and staple goods in the electoral districts of all members of the DPR so that we can ensure that the community's condition remains maintained," said Bambang.
He also appealed for various reports to be conveyed to the public in a balanced manner. According to him, Gerindra will always support the government of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
"And their relationship is very good. This gossip is not true and tends to provoke and stir up discord," he said.
According to him, the Gerindra Faction respects press freedom, but with factual and accurate news presentation. Due to the false allegations, he said that the Gerindra Party would send a summons.
