Taufik Hidayat's Body Was Damaged Due to Torture, He Was Examined for Mental Health
BANDUNG - The West Java Regional Police has placed Taufik Hidayat (TH), a suspect in the kidnapping and abuse case against a woman with the initials YTR (29) in a special cell while undergoing an examination process at the West Java Regional Police.
West Java Police Chief Inspector General Pol. Rudi Setiawan said the suspect would be placed alone in a detention room equipped with surveillance cameras (CCTV) and under the close supervision of officers.
"Then we will detain them in a special cell that has been equipped with CCTV and is under our own supervision," said Rudi, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, June 23.
According to him, at present, investigators are conducting preliminary examinations of the suspects before being detained to investigate the case.
"Tonight we will conduct an initial examination, then we will officially detain and tomorrow we will continue to conduct examinations of the person concerned," he said.
Rudi said investigators would also involve a number of experts, including psychiatrists, to find out the psychological condition of the suspect and complete the investigation process.
"Including, it also involves several experts, mental health experts, so that we have initial data on the suspect's mental condition," he said.
He assessed that the actions allegedly committed by the suspect against the victim were despicable and beyond the limits of reasonableness.
From the results of the examination, he added, there was damage to several parts of the victim's body which was allegedly due to kidnapping and persecution for three years.
"Forensic doctors have been able to identify damaged and non-functioning organs. Among them are the eyes, then the lips, there are cuts from sharp objects on the legs, then there are cigarette marks and so on," said Rudi.
Previously, the West Java Regional Police managed to arrest Taufik Hidayat at a house belonging to a relative of the perpetrator in the Griya Pesona Housing, Ciparay, Bandung Regency on Tuesday (23/6) afternoon.
