Ojol Driver in Tanjung Priok Tries to Remove Evidence
JAKARTA - Police have uncovered new facts in the case of fraud and embezzlement of motorcycles belonging to online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers from Tambun, Bekasi Regency. The perpetrator with the initials WS (40) actually contacted the victim's family using the victim's mobile phone to ask for money and ATM PIN.
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Tanjung Priok Port Police, AKP A.A. Ngurah Made Pandu Prabawa, said that the effort was carried out after the perpetrator managed to steal the victim's motorcycle and belongings.
"The perpetrator has also contacted the victim's family to ask for an ATM PIN and some money," said Pandu when confirmed, Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
However, the request was not met by the victim's family so the perpetrator did not succeed in getting the money he wanted.
In addition, the results of the investigators' examination showed that the perpetrator had indeed intended to steal the victim's vehicle from the beginning.
"The intention of the perpetrator with the initials WS (40) is purely to steal the victim's vehicle," said Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok Police Chief AKBP Aris Wibowo.
The police are currently still investigating the perpetrator's statement and tracing the possibility of the involvement of networks or similar actions that have been carried out in other locations.
"We will further investigate. We are also not sure if the perpetrator is doing it for the first time. I am sure there are several incidents or crime scenes in other places that are carried out by the perpetrator and his network," said Aris.
Investigators also found the perpetrator's attempt to eliminate traces. When arrested, the victim's Honda Beat motorcycle was no longer using the number plate.
The perpetrator admitted that he deliberately threw away the number plate while riding a motorcycle stolen.
Previously, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tanjung Priok Port Police arrested WS after allegedly committing fraud and embezzlement of a motorcycle belonging to an ojol driver from Tambun.
The incident began when the victim received a travel order from the Tambun Station area to Muara Baru, North Jakarta. Upon arrival at the destination, the perpetrator asked to take turns riding a motorcycle and invited the victim to the Tanjung Priok Port area on the grounds that he wanted to meet his colleagues.
Upon arriving at the Port Health Office, the perpetrator asked the victim to get out of the vehicle with the excuse of picking up his colleague. However, the perpetrator actually took away the motorcycle along with the victim's bag and mobile phone.
Based on the victim's report and the results of the rapid investigation, the police managed to arrest the perpetrator in the Pademangan area, North Jakarta, about two hours after the incident.
