Minister of Transportation Dudy said the 8 percent reduction in Ojol tariffs is still awaiting finalization.
JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi said the rules regarding the 8 percent reduction in the cost of online motorcycle taxi (ojol) applications could not be implemented because they were still waiting for the finalization of the Presidential Regulation (Perpres).
For information, currently the application company is still implementing a 20 percent cut on the income of online motorcycle taxi drivers.
Dudy explained that currently the draft Presidential Regulation which is the legal basis for regulating the amount of deductions by application companies is still at the Ministry of State Secretariat (Kemensetneg).
"We are waiting for the finalization from the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources. It is in the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources for the Presidential Decree," said Dudy at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Office, Jakarta, written Tuesday, June 23.
Dudy said the Ministry of Transportation would immediately follow up on the implementation of the policy after the finalization of the Presidential Regulation was completed.
However, when asked about when the rule would come into effect, Dudy could not confirm. According to him, the Ministry of Transportation still has to coordinate with the Ministry of Home Affairs.
"It must be coordinated with the Ministry of Health," he said.
Previously reported, the first 8 percent cut in ojol applicators was first announced by President Prabowo Subianto on the International Labor Day at the National Monument, Jakarta, Friday, May 1.
Prabowo admitted that he had signed Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 27 of 2026 to reduce the income deductions taken by the application company from online motorcycle taxi drivers to eight percent.
"I say here, I don't agree with 10 percent, it must be below 10 percent," he said.
The President emphasized that this policy was taken to defend the rights of online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojol) who work hard every day and risk their lives on the streets. According to him, the revenue sharing scheme that has been in place has still not provided justice for drivers.
Prabowo said that previously the app developers asked for a deposit or a 20 percent cut of the driver's income.
Through this new rule, the government has set a new standard that is much lower to increase the net income of online transportation workers.
"Enakaje, he can sweat money, sorry. If you don't want to join us, don't bother in Indonesia," said President Prabowo in front of thousands of workers.
Presidential Regulation Number 27 of 2026 concerning the Protection of Online Transportation Workers changes the income previously obtained by drivers of around 80 percent after the application's deduction, now the rules require a minimum of 92 percent for drivers or a maximum of eight percent deduction for application providers.
