Prabowo Subianto Praises Gibran Rakabuming as the Future Leader in Today's Memory, June 23, 2023
JAKARTA - Remembering today, three years ago, June 23, 2023, the General Chair of the Gerindra Party, Prabowo Subianto praised the Mayor of Surakarta, Gibran Rakabuming Raka as the future leader. The praise strengthened the issue of Prabowo partnering with Gibran in the 2024 Presidential Election.
Previously, the issue of Gibran running in the 2024 presidential election was getting stronger. The narrative was because Gibran was considered a popular cawapres based on survey results. This condition brought a commotion. However, Gibran repeatedly rejected the discourse.
The 2024 presidential election is a political contest that is awaited by all Indonesian people. The narrative emerged because Joko Widodo (Jokowi) did not participate in the presidential election because he had two periods. Automatically other candidates surfaced.
The names of the strong candidates for the presidential candidate then narrowed down to three names. They are Prabowo Subianto, Anies Baswedan, and Ganjar Pranowo. The three names are considered to have loyal supporters. The commotion actually came from a row of names of figures who were included in the cawapres list.
Initially, the name of Mahfud MD emerged until Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono became a strong candidate. However, surprisingly, Gibran Rakabuming Raka's name was included in the list of popular cawapres in the political map.
His appearance then brought pros and cons. Gibran was considered not yet ready to advance in the presidential level. His experience in the political world is not much. Those who support think Gibran is worthy of advancing to prove that the younger generation can take part in leading the nation.
The narrative then made many political parties begin to look at Gibran. However, Gibran tried to break the chain of rumors that spread. Gibran considers the narrative of his candidacy in the 2024 presidential election to be just a rumor. Gibran also gave the reason that his experience and age were not enough.
"There is no (invitation to chat about the vice presidential candidate). That's just a rumor. The age is not enough (the discourse to become Prabowo's vice presidential candidate), wis takjawab, wispertanyaan lain, the age is not enough. Please, umurkupiroto? (how old am I?)," said Gibran as quoted by lamantempo.co, May 5, 2023.
Gibran's denial does not make the issue of his candidacy in the 2024 presidential election subside. Gibran is seen as a vice president who can collect a large number of votes. The suspicion of many people about Gibran's advancement is also seen from many political parties who have begun to consider Gibran as a leader with achievements.
Take the example of the Gerindra Party. Gerindra Party Chairman, Prabowo Subianto did not deny the news that Gibran spread regarding the possibility of Gibran participating in the 2024 Presidential Election on June 23, 2023. He even appeared to praise Gibran as a figure of the present and future leaders of Indonesia.
The praise was revealed by Prabowo in front of the cadres of the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement (PMII) in the 63rd PMII Harlah in Surakarta. A compliment that strengthens speculation that Gibran is a strong candidate for the vice president to accompany Prabowo in the 2024 presidential election.
"Thank you, I want to say goodbye and Mr. Wali, I want to say goodbye to my brothers, this (Gibran) is the leader of today and the future, thank you," said Prabowo as quoted by CNN Indonesia, June 23, 2023.
