Gus Yahya Announces PBNU Congress in Early August

BANGKALAN - The General Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama General Board (PBNU) KH Yahya Cholil Staquf (Gus Yahya) announced that the NU Congress will be held in early August, namely on August 1 - 5, 2026.

"However, the location of this muktamar activity has not been determined, it will be determined later at a place that will be agreed upon immediately," he said at the closing ceremony of the National Conference (Munas) of Alim Ulama and the NU 2026 Grand Conference (Konbes) at the Syaichona Muhammad Cholil Islamic Institute (IAI) in Bangkalan, East Java, Tuesday, June 23, reported by ANTARA.

He hopes that the NU's big agenda will run smoothly and NU will remain upright in maintaining the country and nation.

"Munas Alim Ulama and Konbes NU are strategic agendas leading up to the 35th NU Congress," he said.

Gus Yahya also said that the presence of President Prabowo Subianto at the closing of the NU 2026 Munas and Konbes completed the happiness of the implementation of activities that have now been completed.

"Thank you for the infinite presence of the President at the 2026 NU Alim Ulama Congress. This completes our happiness after successfully completing the entire task of implementing the congress and convention," he said.

Gus Yahya also explained that NU residents are people who are loyal to the country and nation, ready to fight and willing to sacrifice for the sake of the beloved nation and state.

"Hopefully NU will continue to always be present and upright in maintaining and preserving the nation we love," he said.

The closing activities of the 2026 Alim Ulama and KonbesNU Congress were attended by President Prabowo Subianto, Chairman of the MPR RI Ahmad Muzani, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Coordinating Minister for Food and Agriculture Zulkifli Hasan, Mensesneg Prasetyo Hadi, Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar, Minister of Empowerment of Women and Child Protection Arifatul Choiri Fauzi, and Minister of ATR/BPN Nusron Wahid.

Next are the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, National Police Chief General Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo, TNI Commander Agus Subianto, and East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa.

Also present were Rais Aam PBNU KH Miftachul Akhyar, Deputy Rais Aam PBNU KH Anwar Iskandar, Katib Aam KH Akhmad Said Asrori, and the PBNU syuriyah ranks.

Next, Deputy General Chair KH Zulfa Mustofa, Secretary General H Saifullah Yusuf, General Treasurer H Gudfan Arif, and the PBNU tanfidziyah ranks.

Representatives of the NU Regional Management throughout Indonesia and the NU Branch Management in East Java, autonomous institutions and bodies at the central and branch levels were also present at the event.
