Ministry of Transportation Appreciates Whitesky Group's Steps to Introduce eVTOL Technology in Indonesia
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation expressed its appreciation for the Whitesky Group's initiative in introducing Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) technology in Indonesia through the Welcoming the Future of Air Mobility agenda held at Cengkareng Heliport, Tangerang.
In his remarks, quoted Tuesday, June 23, the Director of Air Navigation and Aircraft Operations of the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia, Sokhib Al Rokhman, emphasized that the government is not anti-development and technological progress. According to him, innovation in the transportation and aviation sector needs to continue to be encouraged as long as it pays attention to safety, security, and compliance with applicable regulations.
He also expressed his appreciation for Whitesky Group's steps in introducing eVTOL technology as part of the development of Advanced Air Mobility which is developing in various countries.
Through the Welcoming the Future of Air Mobility agenda, Whitesky Group together with SkyDrive introduced the development of eVTOL technology to regulators, industry stakeholders, academics, media, and the public. This activity is an opportunity to expand understanding of the potential of Advanced Air Mobility as well as various aspects that need to be prepared in its future development.
On this occasion, the Ministry of Transportation also emphasized that every development of aviation technology needs to be seen as an opportunity to support the progress of the national transportation sector. However, its implementation must still go through a comprehensive study process and meet applicable safety and regulatory standards.
Whitesky Group believes that the future of Urban Air Mobility in Indonesia needs to be built through collaboration between the government, regulators, operators, technology developers, infrastructure providers, academics, and investors. In this context, regulators have an important role in ensuring that every development of aviation technology can run safely, gradually, and in accordance with national needs.
For Indonesia, eVTOL technology has great relevance due to the geographical characteristics of the archipelago, the need for connectivity between regions, access to airports, business area mobility, industrial areas, tourism destinations, and strategic national areas. This potential opens up opportunities for the development of more efficient air mobility solutions in the future.
Cengkareng Heliport is a relevant location to introduce the development of this technology because it represents one of the supporting infrastructure for air mobility that has been operating in Indonesia.
In the future, the development of the Advanced Air Mobility ecosystem will require the readiness of various supporting components, including infrastructure, technology, human resources, and an appropriate regulatory framework.
Through this activity, Whitesky Group not only introduces eVTOL technology with SkyDrive, but also encourages a broader understanding of the opportunities and challenges of future air mobility. In addition to the aircraft technology itself, safety, operational, infrastructure, airspace integration, and public acceptance aspects will be important factors in its development.
The presence of SkyDrive in this agenda provides an overview of the development of eVTOL technology at the global level. However, any possible development in Indonesia still needs to be adjusted to national needs, geographical characteristics, ecosystem readiness, and applicable regulatory frameworks.
For the industrial world, this activity is an opportunity to understand the development of technology that has the potential to shape the future of the air transportation sector. Meanwhile, for investors and business actors, the introduction to the Advanced Air Mobility ecosystem can open new perspectives regarding the opportunities for the development of air mobility infrastructure and supporting services in the future.
Through the Welcoming the Future of Air Mobility agenda, the Whitesky Group emphasizes its commitment to supporting the development of future air mobility in a responsible manner. This initiative aims to introduce global technological developments while encouraging the creation of constructive dialogue between governments, industry, academia, and various other stakeholders.
By involving various Ministries of Transportation, SkyDrive, and various stakeholders, this activity is the first step to introduce the potential of Advanced Air Mobility to the Indonesian aviation ecosystem. From Cengkareng Heliport, Whitesky Group hopes that the development of future air mobility can be carried out through strong collaboration, maintained safety, and sustainable ecosystem readiness.
