Sudinhub Jaktim: Parking Problem in Cawang is Not a Permit, but a Violation in the Field
JAKARTA - The East Jakarta Transportation Service (Sudinhub) explained the parking controversy on Jalan Mayjen Sutoyo, Cawang, East Jakarta which is often complained about by the public because it is considered to trigger congestion.
Sudinhub Jaktim emphasized that parking on the road in the corridor was actually allowed at certain points and times, but violations were still found in the field.
Head of Sudinhub East Jakarta Harlem Simanjuntak said his party had followed up on community reports regarding the parking conditions on the road.
"Sudinhub East Jakarta followed up on community reports regarding parking conditions on Jalan Mayjen Sutoyo. We need to explain that on the road there is indeed a parking arrangement on the street at certain points and times. However, in the field there are still violations, namely vehicles parked beyond capacity and not according to the parking line that has been set," said Harlem in his statement, Tuesday, June 23.
Harlem said that on Jalan Mayjen Sutoyo on the west side of Tanjung Priok, on-street parking had been imposed with a 45-degree oblique parking pattern and only one row. This arrangement does not apply from 06.00 to 10.00 WIB.
The parking area on the west side has a capacity of 95 cars and 200 motorcycles spread across three segments, from the front of the Primajasa Pool Bus to the Ministry of Social Affairs area.
Meanwhile, on the east side of the Cililitan direction, a parallel parking pattern with a capacity of 26 cars is applied. This parking arrangement applies to the Joint Road section to the BKN Stop, except from 16.00 to 20.00 WIB.
According to Harlem, the traffic signs installed at the location have clearly regulated the time of parking restrictions according to the applicable regulations.
"So what needs to be understood, the problem is not whether there is or is not parking at the location, but rather the presence of vehicles that park not in accordance with the rules, exceed capacity, or pass the allowed parking line limit. This is the condition that we follow up in the field," said Harlem.
Sudinhub East Jakarta considers that the problem is not due to the existence of official parking on the road, but rather the low compliance of parking users with the rules that have been set. Vehicles that park beyond capacity and use more than one line are considered potentially interfering with road functions and narrowing traffic space.
Therefore, Sudinhub will increase supervision during peak hours, especially during the parking restriction period. Enforcement against vehicles that violate parking patterns and exceed capacity will also continue to be carried out with related elements.
Field evaluations were also carried out to monitor the level of compliance of parking users as well as to ensure that parking arrangements in the corridor of Jalan Mayjen Sutoyo do not interfere with the smooth flow of traffic.
