KPK Opens Opportunity to Investigate Other Alleged Corruption in the MBG Program

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is still open to investigating other alleged corruption in the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).

This was conveyed by KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo when asked about the investigation into the alleged corruption of President Prabowo Subianto's flagship program. According to him, the process that is running at the anti-corruption commission has indeed been temporarily stopped after the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) named a number of suspects.

"Because the investigation is already at the Attorney General's Office, yes, the investigation is, so the investigation at the KPK is not raised to the investigation stage," said KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo to reporters at the KPK Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, quoted Tuesday, June 23.

Even so, Budi said, this process does not mean it will stop just like that. "Who knows later, for example, there is a different locus and time or there are other parties who are also captured by the KPK suspected of committing corruption, for example, it is also open to the possibility of (conducting an investigation, red)," he said.

Budi ensured that there would be no duplication of cases between the Attorney General's Office and the KPK. However, his party would still respect the investigation of the MBG case, which is being handled by the Adhyaksa Corps.

In addition to conducting an investigation, the KPK has also conducted a study and found a number of potential corruption in the MBG program. His party ensured that it would continue to monitor during the repair process.

"Yes, even though there is a change of head in the BGN body because this is indeed a study, the recommendation is institutional, which means it does not depend on the head of the agency. That is, this is still going on, yes, the improvements we hope for in the business process of this MBG program," he said.

Budi assessed that there were a number of improvements by the BGN in the MBG program. Among them are related to intensive provision, governance and evaluation of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG).

"We feel that it is a positive progress that we can now see the positive impact, one of which is from the findings and recommendations of the KPK study," explained Budi.

As previously reported, the Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Setyo Budiyanto stated that there was no stopping the investigation into the alleged corruption of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). This was conveyed in response to the many reports that the KPK had stopped the investigation because the case was being handled by the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung).

"There is no plan to stop the investigation administratively," Setyo said when confirmed via an SMS, Thursday, June 18.

Meanwhile, on a different occasion, Setyo said that the ongoing investigation process was indeed delayed because the Attorney General's Office was conducting an investigation.

Moreover, the KPK has coordinated with many parties in the investigation process. One of them is the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP).

"We temporarily do not do any activities anymore," he said at the Parliament complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, June 17.
