Indonesia Partners with the World's Number Two University to Boost the Quality of Medical Education

JAKARTA - The government has opened the door to cooperation with Imperial College London in an effort to improve the quality of medical and scientific education in Indonesia.

The move came after President Prabowo Subianto received an Imperial College delegation at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Monday, June 22.

Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto said the cooperation being discussed includes strengthening the curriculum, improving the quality of lecturers, joint research, and guest professor programs.

According to Brian, the collaboration with Imperial College is a rare opportunity for Indonesia because the campus is ranked second in the world based on the QS World University Rankings.

For the field of medical education, Imperial College also entered the top four in the world.

"This is a great opportunity for the Indonesian nation to work directly with the world's top campuses," said Brian.

The government hopes that the academic standards brought by Imperial College can help improve the quality of teaching and research in Indonesia.

In addition to supporting the construction of 10 new medical and science universities planned by President Prabowo, the impact of the cooperation is expected to reach other universities in various regions.

Brian assessed that improving the quality of higher education is one of the keys to increasing the competitiveness of Indonesian campuses at the global level.

Therefore, the government wants to open more collaborations with the world's best universities, starting from the medical and science education sector which is a priority for human resource development.
