TNI AD Explains Viral Danrem Carrying Bodyguard While Jogja Marathon

JAKARTA - The Indonesian National Army (TNI AD) explained the viral video of a high-ranking TNI AD officer who brought an aide while participating in the 2026 Mandiri Jogja Marathon on Sunday (21/6).

The video went viral on social media and was uploaded on several Instagram accounts such as @eventlari.id

The Head of the TNI AD Information Service (Kadispenad) Brigadier General TNI Donny Pramono said the incident of the aide's termination by the organizing committee was a misunderstanding.

"We can explain that the incident was a misunderstanding that occurred in the field between the track supervisor and the aide of Danrem 072/Pamungkas during the activity," said Donny as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, June 22.

He explained that the TNI AD high-ranking officer was named Brigadier General TNI Yuniar Dwi Hantono who served as Danrem 072/Pamungkas.

The TNI officer was participating in a marathon event with his wife, one child and his aide. They, said Donny, were registered as participants and held official tickets from the organizers of the marathon event.

Therefore, the four of them got a BIB or participant identification number that must be attached to the body during the marathon event.

However, the BIB belonging to the aide fell in the middle of the track when the race was still going on.

"In its implementation, it is suspected that the participant number was lost while on a crowded track, which caused misunderstanding during the inspection by the officer," said Donny.

This condition made the committee have to dismiss the aide who was running while documenting Yuniardi's race.

The incident, which was recorded on social media, where it was seen that Yuniar had a dispute with the committee because he did not accept his aide to be dismissed in the middle of the road.

"After the incident, the organizer, event organizer, and Danrem 072/Pamungkas have communicated and clarified directly. All parties understand that the incident is purely a technical problem in the field and has been resolved properly," said Donny.

The TNI AD also appreciated the work of the committee for working professionally in maintaining order and implementing the applicable regulations in the race.

With this incident, Donny hopes that the public can understand the incident wisely and not be drawn into facts that have not been confirmed as true.

"We hope that the public can see this event proportionally and not associate it with other things that do not correspond to the actual facts," said Donny.
