ISHA Highlights the Importance of Self-Balance in the Face of Modern Economic Stress

JAKARTA - Public attention to mental health and life balance continues to increase with the high pressure of work and the dynamics of urban life.

The momentum of International Yoga Day 2026 is used by the ISHA Foundation volunteer community in Jakarta to invite the public to build a more balanced quality of life through yoga and meditation practices.

Volunteer ISHA Foundation, Datu Permata, said that people's understanding of yoga is still often limited to physical activity, although the benefits include a wider aspect.

"Yoga is known as a movement that stretches and stretches the body, but in fact yoga is much more than that. It's about how we build balance within ourselves," he said.

According to Datu, the approach introduced in the activity aims to help individuals improve their overall quality of life, ranging from physical health, mental calmness, to emotional stability.

This trend is in line with the increasing global attention to mental health as one of the factors that affect economic productivity.

World Health Organization (WHO) data shows that around 12 billion working days are lost each year worldwide due to depression and anxiety, which has an impact on the decline in labor productivity.

The founder of ISHA Foundation Sadhguru emphasized that yoga is not just a philosophy or a belief system, but a set of methods that can help improve the quality of human life.

"If you are human, then this technology is for you," is the message Sadhguru often conveys in the International Yoga Day celebrations.

Amid the growing wellness industry and increasing public awareness of mental health, practices such as meditation, breath regulation, and mindful movement are increasingly in demand, especially by urban communities facing high work and mobility pressures.

The participants who attended admitted that they used the activity as a pause to recover focus and maintain balance in the midst of daily routines.

Through the International Yoga Day 2026, ISHA Foundation hopes that more people will get to know simple practices that can help improve the quality of life while supporting long-term productivity and well-being.
