Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar: US-Iran Relations Make "Great" Progress
JAKARTA - Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said on Sunday that relations between the US and Iran have made "great" progress.
In an interview with Al Arabiya during his visit to Cairo, Dar expressed "confidence" that the two sides would eventually reach a final agreement.
He added that the next phase of negotiations between Washington and Tehran would be "more difficult."
Dar said it had been agreed to reduce the level of enrichment of Iran's nuclear stockpile and that both sides had reached the conclusion that diplomacy was the solution.
He also said there would be no transit fees imposed on the Strait of Hormuz during the 60-day period, adding that there would be no fees for "transit" or "services."
Dar further said that three technical teams are currently in Switzerland to discuss nuclear issues, Iran's frozen assets, and the situation in Lebanon.
US and Iranian delegations are in Switzerland for talks, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding on Wednesday (17/6) to end months of conflict in the Middle East and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
The talks in Burgenstock were led by US Vice President JD Vance and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf as well as Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi from Iran, under Pakistani mediation.
