Gibran Pray for Roy Suryo and Doctor Tifa to Recover Quickly, Ask for the Legal Process to Be Respected

ASMAT - Responding to the detention of Roy Suryo and Doctor Tifa in the case of alleged dissemination of false news related to the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo's diploma, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming emphasized the importance of following the applicable legal mechanisms.

Gibran asked all parties to respect and follow the ongoing legal process.

"Yes, just follow the existing process," Gibran told the crew quoted by Antara in Asmat, South Papua, Sunday, June 21.

In addition to referring to the legal process, Gibran also expressed his sympathy for Roy Suryo's health condition and Doctor Tifa. He admitted that he had received information that the two were undergoing treatment at the National Police Hospital.

According to him, regardless of the ongoing legal process, the health conditions of the two still need attention.

"We wish the best for Mr. Roy Suryo and Doctor Tifa because yesterday I heard that the two of them were being treated at the National Police Hospital. Hopefully they will soon recover. Hopefully they will soon recover. That's it, that's it," said Gibran.

Previously, the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, also expressed respect for the ongoing legal process related to the case. Jokowi emphasized that he would follow all legal stages up to the trial.

"We will follow the existing legal process until the trial. Because later the court will decide. We will follow, we will follow," said Jokowi when he was in Sumber, Banjarsari, Solo, Central Java.

Jokowi also expressed his readiness to attend the trial if necessary and showed the original diploma which has been the object of controversy.

The case that ensnared Roy Suryo and Doctor Tifa is currently being handled by investigators at the Polda Metro Jaya. Both were named as suspects in relation to the alleged dissemination of information that was considered not to be in accordance with the facts regarding the authenticity of Jokowi's diploma, and the legal process is continuing towards the prosecution stage.
