The National Police Chief Hands Down, Explains the Detention of Roy Suryo and Tifa According to Procedure
BLITAR - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo explained that the detention of Roy Suryo and doctor Tifauzia Tyassuma in the alleged defamation and libel case related to the authenticity of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo's diploma was part of the procedural stages in the investigation process.
According to Sigit, this step was taken before the case file and the suspects were transferred to the prosecutor's office in the second stage process.
"Actually yesterday the Police Chief explained that it was a series of activities that must be carried out by investigators before being handed over to the second stage of the prosecutor's office," said Sigit when he visited the grave of the first President of the Republic of Indonesia, Soekarno, in Blitar, East Java, Saturday, June 20.
The National Police Chief explained that before the transfer process was carried out, investigators were required to complete a number of administrative stages and examinations of the suspects to ensure that all legal requirements had been met.
One of the procedures that must be carried out is a health examination. In addition, investigators also conduct administrative verification to ensure the condition of the suspects and the completeness of the documents required in the process of transferring cases.
"Because the activities have been explained, there have been health checks, administrative checks to ensure that everything is in good condition before being handed over to the prosecutor's office," he said.
Sigit emphasized that all steps taken by investigators were part of the applicable law enforcement mechanism and were not outside the procedures that had been regulated.
According to him, investigators have an obligation to ensure that all stages have been met before the case is transferred to the prosecutor's office to enter the next legal process.
"This is part of the process that must be carried out by investigators before the case is handed over to the prosecutor's office," said Sigit.
The case that ensnared Roy Suryo and doctor Tifauzia Tyassuma relates to alleged defamation and defamation related to the controversy over the authenticity of Joko Widodo's diploma which had been a public debate. After the investigation was declared complete, the case will enter the prosecution stage at the prosecutor's office before being tried in court.
