Germany Balikan Keadaan Bungkam Pantai Gading 2-1, Mentalitas Pemain Dipuji
JAKARTA - German national team defender Jonathan Tah praised the mentality of his teammates who were able to turn things around to silence Ivory Coast with a score of 2-1 in the 2026 World Cup Group E match at BMO Field Stadium, Toronto, Sunday morning WIB.
Quoted from the official FIFA website via Antara, Tah emphasized that such a mentality is still needed in order to go far in the World Cup.
"We have everything we need to be successful in this tournament. The mentality of a champion, the team spirit. We don't give up. We keep fighting," said Tah.
In the match, Germany managed to win despite being behind the Ivory Coast in the first half, which scored a goal through the captain, Franck Kessie.
Germany's resurgence was inseparable from coach Julian Nagelsmann's meticulousness in making player substitutions because two of them, namely Deniz Undav and Nadiem Amiri, had an immediate impact.
Undav also scored two German victory goals in the 68th and 90+4 minutes, with Amiri providing the assist for Undav's first goal.
Tah praised his teammates who came off the bench, especially Undav who made Germany turn around to pack the victory.
"The substitute players brought new energy into the game. Deniz (Undav) deserves special praise. He was amazing," said Tah.
The victory of i57 made Germany secure a place in the 2026 World Cup 32-team final after now having six points from two matches and ranking first in Group E.
