JAKARTA - As many as 11 Golkar Party Level I Regional Leadership Councils (DPD) have expressed their support for Airlangga Hartarto to return to being chairman of Golkar for the 2019-2024 period.
This support was initiated by the North Sulawesi Golkar Party DPD which stated that it received an accountability report for the management of Airlangga. Apart from accepting this LPJ, the Chairman of the North Sulawesi DPD, Tetty Paruntu, also expressed his support for Airlangga.
"We express our full support for Pak Airlangga to become the chairman of the Golkar DPP for the 2019-2024 period in the X 2019 National Congress," said Tetty at the X Golkar National Conference, at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Jakarta, Wednesday, December 4.
Tetty added that North Sulawesi had 16 votes in the X Golkar National Conference. A total of 15 of them are the votes of the DPD level II or district / city. All of them provide support to Airlangga.
Apart from North Sulawesi, it was continued by the DPD Golkar Party for West Java, North Sumatra, Gorontalo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), and Papua. Then, South Sumatra, West Kalimantan, West Papua, Bengkulu, and North Maluku which also shared their general views on LPJ Airlangga.
At around 12.30 WIB, the general view meeting was postponed until 13.30 WIB. Chairman of the trial Azis Syamsuddin closed this meeting.
"Asking for approval in the Xth Congressional Meeting forum we will be suspended until 13.30 WIB, can you agree?" said Azis, greeted by the approval of the Congress participants.
Support extends to the presidential candidate exchange
The National Conference also raised the discourse that Airlangga would become a presidential candidate from the Golkar Party in 2024. There are at least four Golkar Level I Regional Leadership Councils (DPD) who want Airlangga to become the 2024 presidential candidate.
North Sulawesi Golkar DPD Chairman Tetty Paruntu was the first to say. He hopes that Airlangga is not only willing to be nominated as Golkar chairman for the 2019-2024 period but also to become the 2024 Golkar presidential candidate.
"We are ready to win Pak Airlangga for the next presidential election," said Tetty.
Chairman of the North Sumatra Golkar DPD, Ahmad Doli Kurnia, also conveyed the same thing. Doli said the North Sumatra Golkar cadres wanted Airlangga to run as Golkar's presidential candidate in 2024.
"The National Conference is important to recommend that Golkar have a candidate for the 2024 presidential election. We prioritize our General Chair, Airlangga Hartarto," said Doli.
Then, the Chairman of the Golkar Gorontalo DPD, Ruslie Habibie, said that he was tired of supporting the presidential candidates from other parties. Therefore he wants Airlangga to advance to be a presidential candidate in 2024.
"We will try him (Airlangga) to become a presidential candidate in 2024. So that we don't spend time pushing other cadres to become president of the Republic of Indonesia," said Ruslie.
Chairman of the East Nusa Tenggara Golkar DPD Melki Laka Lena also stated that he was ready to support Airlangga to become a presidential candidate. He hopes that the nomination of Airlangga as a candidate for president in 2024 can be decided in the National Conference forum this time.
"So that we can hold regional deliberations and socialize our presidential candidate, Pak Airlangga," said Melki.
Golkar will hold National Conference X until December 6, 2019. One of the agenda is to elect the Golkar Chairperson for the 2019-2024 period. Until this news was written, the National Conference X event related to the delivery of public views had not yet restarted, after previously being suspended for rest and midday prayers.
