Close Again the Strait of Hormuz Due to Israel's Attack on Lebanon, Iran Will Meet with US Delegation in Switzerland

JAKARTA - The Iranian central military command announced that it would close the Strait of Hormuz, which is vital for the supply of 20 percent of the world's energy resources, because Israel continues to attack Lebanon.

The headquarters of the Khatam al-Anbiya Center, also known as the Iranian central military command, described Israel's actions in Lebanon as a violation of the US-Iran peace agreement.

"It is hereby announced that the Strait of Hormuz will be closed to ship traffic; it should be noted that this first step is a response to the enemy's breach of promises, and if aggression continues, further steps will be planned and taken to force the enemy to comply with its obligations," said a statement from Iran's central military command broadcast by state television, quoted by the Times of Israel, Saturday, June 20.

In its development, Iran will send its delegation to fly to Switzerland to meet with the US delegation to discuss a temporary agreement between the two sides on war negotiations.

The news was conveyed by the Iranian state television station based on a statement by the spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Bagahei. "Every memorandum or agreement is ultimately tested when it enters the implementation phase," he said.

According to reports, the trip to Switzerland was originally planned for Friday this week but was rescheduled.
