7.7 Million Tons of Government Rice Reserves Disributed to the Community During 2023-2025
JAKARTA - The National Food Agency (Bapanas) has recorded a total of 7.7 million tons of government rice reserves (CBP) have been distributed to the public throughout 2023 to 2025 to maintain the stability of supply, prices and national food security.
Deputy for Food Availability and Stabilization of Bapanas I Gusti Ketut Astawa said that the CBP stock managed jointly by Perum Bulog continues to be utilized for the benefit of the community, with distribution directed to maintain supply and price stability at the consumer level.
"The total government rice reserves that have been distributed in the period 2023 to 2025 reached 7.75 million tons," he said, quoting Antara.
He said that the distribution was part of the government's efforts to maintain food stability while strengthening people's purchasing power.
He detailed the distribution of government rice reserves in 2023 reached 2.76 million tons. This figure then increased to 3.37 million tons in 2024, while throughout 2025 it has been realized as much as 1.62 million tons.
Ketut said the distribution of government rice reserves was aimed at providing economic support for the community and increasing access to rice at a more affordable price in the midst of various dynamics in the food market.
The government is consistent in distributing CBP stocks to the public through many programs ranging from the rice supply and price stabilization program (SPHP) including food assistance to 33.2 million beneficiary families.
"Also to help people in areas that are experiencing natural disasters," explained Ketut.
The distribution of CBP stocks in 2023 with a total of 3.37 million tons consists of food aid of 1.49 million tons of rice, SPHP rice 1.18 million tons, and the budget group of 87,500 tons as well as emergency response of 2.3 thousand tons.
Furthermore, the distribution of CBP throughout 2024 includes food assistance of 1.97 million tons of rice, 1.4 million tons of SPHP rice, and 442 tons of emergency response.

Then for rice food aid 710.78 thousand tons, the budget group 92.1 thousand tons and emergency response 13.16 thousand tons.
Ketut explained that these various good programs will continue in 2026. Moreover, the current government is strengthening the CBP stock by relying entirely on the absorption of domestic farmers' production.
"Currently, the government is focusing on absorbing the harvest of our farmers for CBP. This is also accompanied by the implementation of a program to distribute to the community until the end of the year. This effort must be continuously implemented so that the upstream and downstream are always maintained stability," said Ketut.
Bapanas noted that the realization of the distribution of CBP for the 2026 budget had touched a total of 946.8 thousand tons as of June 18, consisting of 550.1 thousand tons of rice food aid, 348.5 thousand tons of SPHP rice, 36.8 thousand tons of budget groups and 11.3 thousand tons of emergency response.
"The government has also decided to add 3 months of rice food assistance in the second semester of this year," he explained.
Meanwhile, the total stock of rice at Bulog as of June 18, 2026 is 5.2 million tons sourced from the procurement of the equivalent of domestic production rice since the beginning of 2026 which has reached 3.18 million tons.
"In addition, it is also supported by the end-of-year stock of 2025 which is still 3.24 million tons with the realization of domestic production procurement during 2025 at 3.43 million tons without any imports," said Ketut.
Head of Bapanas and Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman emphasized that the national rice stock was abundant with a reserve of 5.2 million tons, so the government did not want to import rice in the midst of record-high availability.
"Our warehouse capacity is 3 million tons. We have rented 2.3 million tons and this is the highest during independence. If before, the stock at Bulog was only 1 million tons, then the price went up, the conclusion was imports. Now it's different. We have a surplus. We are self-sufficient," said Amran.
