Smart City Center Rp115.94 Billion Built in IKN, Target Completed by the End of 2027
JAKARTA - The Nusantara Capital Authority (IKN) together with the South Korean Government carried out the groundbreaking of the Smart City Cooperation Center (SCCC) with a total grant value of cooperation of 9.9 billion KRW or approximately Rp. 115.94 billion.
SCCC is located in the West 1A Residential Planning Sub-Region, the Nusantara Central Government Core Area (KIPP).
Head of the IKN Authority Basuki Hadimuljono assessed that the strategic location for the construction of the SCCC was a strengthening of cooperation between Indonesia and South Korea in the development of smart cities in the archipelago.
"For all permits, don't worry, everything is with us (the IKN Authority). The utilization of this building is a very good idea and I hope that you can help us, build a smart city laboratory and can be used for education and introduce technology from South Korea," said Basuki quoted from a written statement, Saturday, June 20.
Of the total value of the cooperation, the construction component of the SCCC building has a value of 5.5 billion KRW or approximately Rp. 64.41 billion. The building with an area of approximately 1,098 square meters is planned to consist of two floors, with the first floor for a control room and meeting room.
Meanwhile, the second floor is for exhibition areas and AI & Robotics Lab. The area outside the building will be used for urban farming as part of a demonstration of smart city technology. The construction of the SCCC building took place for ten months and is targeted to be completed by the end of 2027.
In addition to building construction, the SCCC grant also includes the preparation of a Smart City Masterplan and Smart Building Protocol by KICT, as well as the Nusantara Smart City Forum and Capacity Building Program by the University of Seoul.
These components are directed to support knowledge transfer, capacity building, academic networking and Indonesian-Korean cooperation in the field of smart cities.
Director of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MoLIT) Choi Jung-won said that SCCC is expected to become a long-term cooperation space between Indonesia and South Korea in the development of smart cities.
"As in Korea, Korea also built a new city that made it a smart city, namely Sejong. Therefore, Nusantara can also have this opportunity, through the collaboration of smart city technology that we have," he said.
The IKN Authority hopes that the SCCC can become a center for collaboration between smart cities in Indonesia and Korea, a digital and environmental laboratory, including for the education ecosystem in the IKN delineation, a demonstration space for smart city solutions, and a platform for developing technology ecosystems in the archipelago.
