Meanwhile, BMKG estimates that the peak of the dry season in most parts of Indonesia will occur in the period from July to September 2026.

The institution appealed to the public and local governments to take precautionary measures to reduce the potential losses due to the impact of the El Nino phenomenon.

Based on BMKG calculations in early June 2026, the El Nino phenomenon is expected to continue until early 2027.

However, the direct impact of El Nino on Indonesia is expected to occur mainly during the dry season and lasts until October 2026.

Especially in the health sector, local governments are asked to prepare rapid response steps to anticipate an increase in air pollution that has the potential to trigger cases of acute respiratory infections (ARI).
