Indonesia is getting closer to hosting the FIFA ASEAN, Prabowo is ready to provide full support.

BOGOR - Indonesia opens up a big opportunity to host the FIFA ASEAN tournament which is scheduled to take place from September to October this year.

PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir said FIFA had given a positive response to Indonesia's nomination. Full support also came from President Prabowo Subianto.

"I report to the President that there has been a positive response from FIFA regarding Indonesia becoming one of the hosts of the FIFA ASEAN," said Erick in Hambalang, Bogor, Friday (19/6).

According to Erick, the President will prepare an official letter of support as part of the Indonesian nomination process.

He was also asked to immediately coordinate with a number of ministries because the organization of the FIFA tournament requires cross-sectoral support, ranging from taxation, health, to other technical aspects.

"We are asked to communicate with all ministries because the FIFA tournament requires various government approvals," he said.

National team coach John Herdman considers FIFA ASEAN to be of great significance for Indonesian football.

According to the English national team coach, the tournament is an opportunity to bring together the best Indonesian forces while testing the team's readiness to face bigger targets.

"FIFA ASEAN is a tournament that we must win to show that we are at the top level of the region," said John Herdman.

PSSI hopes that the certainty of the host can be announced by FIFA in the coming weeks.
