Invest Selangor Brings 150 Delegations to Bandung for ASEAN Business Forum

JAKARTA - Invest Selangor Berhad is preparing a delegation of around 150 people to attend SIBS@ASEAN: Bandung Edition on July 9-10, 2026 as a step to strengthen trade and investment cooperation between Selangor, Malaysia, and West Java.

The event, which will take place at the Pullman Grand Central Bandung, is a new milestone for the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) because for the first time the business forum was held outside Malaysia ahead of the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the SIBS in October 2026.

Chief Executive Officer of Invest Selangor Berhad Dato' Hasan Azhari Hj. Idris said the holding of SIBS@ASEAN in Bandung is part of an effort to expand Selangor's economic network in the Southeast Asian region.

"The Bandung Edition marks a new chapter for the Selangor International Business Summit, now for the first time stepping beyond the borders of Malaysia. Celebrating a decade of SIBS success, we believe this is the right time to bring Selangor directly to our ASEAN neighbors," said Hasan Azhari in an official statement, Friday, June 19.

He added that the Selangor delegation is ready to build cross-country partnerships, encourage new investments, and strengthen Selangor's position as a gateway for companies looking to expand into the Southeast Asian market.

The delegation led by the Selangor State Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin bin Shari was comprised of government officials, business actors, industry associations, and investors from various sectors.

Bandung was chosen as the location for the event because it was considered to have characteristics similar to Selangor, namely as an industrial and innovation center supported by the manufacturing sector, digital technology, and a growing micro, small, and medium business (MSMEs) ecosystem.

During the two days of implementation, activities will include business exhibitions, investment forums, and industry visits designed to strengthen bilateral economic relations.

The exhibition, held in collaboration with Tourism Selangor and Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), will feature around 60 entities based in Selangor that offer partnership opportunities in the medical and education tourism sectors.

In the medical tourism sector, Selangor will promote high-value health services that include private hospitals, modern technology medical facilities, and services for international patients. Meanwhile, the education sector will showcase various study opportunities and academic cooperation across countries.

The SIBS@ASEAN One-Day Forum which took place on July 9 will be the main agenda with a focus on strengthening trade and investment cooperation in the digital technology sector, property development, manufacturing, and logistics between Selangor and West Java.

The forum is scheduled to be opened by the Menteri Besar of Selangor Dato' Seri Amirudin bin Shari together with the Governor of West Java Dedi Mulyadi. The agenda also includes discussions on strengthening the Malaysia-Indonesia supply chain, presenting investment opportunities, as well as the signing of a number of memorandums of understanding (MoU) between the government, industry players, the tourism sector, and educational institutions from both regions.

On the second day, the delegation will visit various strategic industrial sectors in West Java to see firsthand investment potential and explore opportunities for cooperation with local industry players.

Invest Selangor stated that the implementation of SIBS@ASEAN: Bandung Edition is part of the strategy to strengthen regional economic diplomacy and open new growth corridors in the ASEAN region through cross-country collaboration.
