KPK Will Not Duplicate Handling of Alleged MBG Corruption at Kejaksaan
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will not duplicate the legal enforcement process for alleged corruption in the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) which is being investigated by the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung).
KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo said his party respected the legal process carried out in the Adhyaksa Corps. The KPK also ensured that it would continue to work in accordance with its main duties and functions.
"KPK does not duplicate the legal enforcement process for cases that have been handled by other law enforcement agencies," Budi said in a written statement, Friday, June 19.
"The main focus at this time is to ensure that the legal process can run optimally according to the authority of each institution, so that the purpose of law enforcement to uncover criminal events, hold those involved accountable, and recover state losses can be achieved," he continued.
However, the KPK ensured that it would continue to monitor the governance of the MBG program run by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). Moreover, Budi emphasized that his agency had conducted a study and identified a number of potential corruption risks in the program.
Therefore, the KPK will monitor and coordinate with ministries, agencies, and related parties to follow up on the recommendations of the study that has been prepared.
"Follow-up on the recommendation for governance improvement is an important part of ensuring that government strategic programs can run effectively, accountably, and free from corruption practices," he said.
The KPK emphasized that it would continue to support law enforcement efforts and governance improvements carried out by stakeholders as part of efforts to realize transparent and integrity state financial management.
"For the KPK, the eradication of corruption is said to be complete when it is not only complete in the legal process, but also through strengthening the prevention system so that the potential for irregularities does not recur," said Budi.
As previously reported, the Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Setyo Budiyanto stated that there was no stopping the investigation into the alleged corruption of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). This was conveyed in response to the many reports that the KPK had stopped the investigation because the case was being handled by the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung).
"There is no plan to stop the investigation administratively," Setyo said when confirmed via an SMS, Thursday, June 18.
Meanwhile, on a different occasion, Setyo said that the ongoing investigation process was indeed delayed because the Attorney General's Office was conducting an investigation.
Moreover, the KPK has coordinated with many parties in the investigation process. One of them is the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP).
"We temporarily do not do any activities anymore," he said at the Parliament complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, June 17.
