Russia Claims to Find New Evidence of Ukraine's Biological Weapons Development

JAKARTA - The Russian Defense Ministry claims to have obtained new research data on the destructive properties of potential biological weapons agents in biological laboratories in Ukraine during special military operations.

"During the special military operation, we received additional documents confirming that the focus of the work carried out does not correspond to the current health problems facing Ukraine, primarily significant social diseases," said the Head of the Nuclear, Chemical and Biological Protection Forces of the Russian Armed Forces, Major General Aleksei Rtishchev, Friday, June 19, reported by ANTARA from Sputnik.

Rtishchevmenyampaikan prioritas penelitian itu justru diarahkan pada studi terkait sifat merusak agen potensial senjata biologis, serta agen infeksius yang bertujuan melemahkan perekonomian negara.

According to the Russian military official, the Ukrainian Ministry of Health recorded the storage of cholera, tularemia, and brucellosis pathogens in excess quantities at the Mechnikov Institute of Microbiology and Immunology, which is being reconstructed by the United States.

"The nomenclature of the pathogens studied, which does not correspond to the current health problems of Ukraine - where there is an increase in cases of rubella, diphtheria and tuberculosis - indicates an attempt to develop components of biological weapons in Ukrainian biological laboratories," said Rtishchev.

He also said the Institute of Experimental and Clinical Veterinary Medicine (IECVM) in Kharkiv was conducting research on a number of serious diseases that could potentially damage the agricultural sector.
