US-Iran Talks Canceled in Switzerland

Swiss Foreign Ministry announced that talks between the United States and Iran scheduled to take place in Switzerland on Friday (19/6) were canceled.

Previously, US Vice President JD Vance reportedly canceled his departure to Switzerland for the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Iran because the technical plans related to the talks were not final.

On June 14, Iran and the US confirmed that the drafting of the MoU had been completed.

On Thursday, the two countries signed the MoU online to end the military conflict that began on February 28.

The MoU gives the US and Iran 60 days to negotiate a final agreement on Iran's nuclear program and US sanctions.

In addition, the document also sets a deadline for the US to lift its naval blockade, as well as for Iran to restore shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.
