Damage from the Philippine Earthquake Reaches IDR 400 Billion
JAKARTA - The damage to infrastructure due to the 7.8 magnitude earthquake in the Philippines on June 8 reached 1.36 billion pesos (about Rp400 billion), according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
The amount increased compared to the NDRRMC report on June 17 which recorded a loss of 1.29 billion pesos.
As reported by ANTARA from PNA/OANA, Friday, June 19, the NDRRMC recorded damage to 799 infrastructure, including on the Zamboanga Peninsula, Davao Region, Soccsksargen, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
Meanwhile, the number of damaged houses in the four areas reached 61,119 units, 13,691 of which were destroyed.
The number of earthquake victims is still in the process of verification. There are 78 people who died, 1,339 were injured, and 32 others were missing. All of them are in the Davao and Soccsksargen areas.
The NDRRMC stated that these figures could still change after the validation and verification process was completed.
