Security of Mal Curi Sembako for 5 Months for Online Gambling Games

The perpetrator often steals groceries at the supermarket where he works for 5 months. He stole gradually with a total loss of Rp. 70 million.

The Tambora Police Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Sudrajat Djumantara, said that the perpetrator, initials I, used his position as an employee to carry out the theft without raising suspicions.

The modus operandi used is to collect various groceries into a basket, then store them in a personal locker before being taken out at work hours.

"The results of the examination show that the perpetrator has been carrying out his actions since February 2026 or about five months," he said when confirmed, Friday, June 19, 2026.

The stolen goods were then resold by the perpetrator.

"The money from the sale is used to play online gambling," he said.

This case began to unfold when the supermarket management suspected the actions of the perpetrator, which was considered unnatural.

After internal supervision and investigation, the allegations led to the perpetrators until they were finally reported to the police.

Following up on the report, the Tambora Police Criminal Investigation Unit immediately conducted an investigation and collected a number of evidence.

From the results of the examination, the perpetrator admitted his actions and explained that the theft was committed repeatedly by taking advantage of the slackness of the situation at work.

He also appealed to the public to stay away from online gambling practices because they often become a trigger for various criminal acts to meet financial needs instantly.

"The perpetrator was charged with Article 476 of the Criminal Code regarding the crime of theft," he said.
