PKB Urges PDIP to Emphasize Political Attitude, Do Not "Abu-Abu" Become Opposition or Coalition
JAKARTA - Chairman of the PKB Faction of the DPR RI, Jazilul Fawaid, hopes that the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) will immediately take a firm political stance, whether to choose to join the government coalition or to be in the opposition ranks.
This insistence emerged following the issue of the involvement of one of the PDIP cadre figures in a demonstration with student elements in Jakarta recently. Jazilul assessed that PDIP did not need to be ambiguous or "gray" in determining its political direction.
"If you really want to be outside the government, please. But don't be gray. That's what I mean," said Jazilul at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta.
Jazilul explained that political parties within the current government coalition are struggling hard to succeed in priority programs and realize President Prabowo Subianto's political promises. To achieve this target, it takes strong solidarity and unity among the elements of the nation.
Until now, the line of government supporting parties has always respected every difference of opinion and political views. However, the clarity of political attitudes from a party as large as PDIP is considered very important for a healthy democratic climate.
"PDIP's current position is still not firm. What is it like as a balancing party? It needs to be clarified. Various events that exist are even more important to ensure this position," he said.
Furthermore, the Deputy Chairman of the PKB admitted that he would appreciate it much more if the party with the white-nosed bull emblem issued a concrete official decision, so that there was no bias between the institutional attitude statement and the dynamics of cadres in the field.
"A firm attitude is certainly more appreciated than saying A but B is doing it," said Jazilul.
