Ahead of 499 Years, Jakarta Residents are Invited to Take Care of Public Facilities and City Icons

JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission D of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Yuke Yurike, invites all levels of society to actively maintain various public facilities and city icons that have been built by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov). This invitation was delivered ahead of the 499th anniversary of the 500th anniversary of the City of Jakarta.

"In the midst of all the existing situations, we must remain optimistic. What has been budgeted, created, and built, we must take care of together. There are several icons and symbols of the capital city that we should be grateful for because Jakarta continues to grow despite facing various difficulties," said Yuke in Jakarta, Friday, June 19.

Yuke emphasized that the sense of belonging to public facilities must be cultivated in the community. This is because various facilities such as parks, sidewalks, roads, and pedestrian bridges (JPO) are built using public money at a considerable cost.

Therefore, the sustainability and maintenance of these facilities cannot be solely charged to the government so that the benefits can be felt in the long term.

On the other hand, Yuke also appreciated the DKI Provincial Government's steps in continuing to seek various financing alternatives so that the development program can continue in the midst of budget constraints. He hopes that the economic conditions will improve soon so that the planned programs are not delayed.

"If the current condition is like this, there must be programs that are pending or have not been prioritized. The impact, of course, the community must wait longer. In fact, we want various problems in the environment to be resolved immediately," he said.

Furthermore, Yuke emphasized that the development of Jakarta in the future should not only focus on physical infrastructure, but also be able to narrow the economic gap in the community.

The DKI Jakarta DPRD is committed to continuing to carry out strict oversight functions over the implementation of government programs and supporting the regulations needed to accelerate city development.

"From our side in the DPRD, as much as possible we will closely supervise. Regulations that need to be supported to fix Jakarta, we will support. But most importantly, we also need the support of the community to participate in supervising so that we can build a better Jakarta when we enter the next five centuries," said Yuke.
