Pelita Jaya in Good Momentum Looking at the 2026 IBL Final

JAKARTA - Pelita Jaya Jakarta has a very high confidence in the 2026 Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) final because they have a very good momentum in their journey to reach the top of the highest level of Indonesian basketball competition.

Pelita Jaya Jakarta will face Bogor Hornbills in the final match with a best-of-five format starting at the Soemantri Brodjonegoro Sports Arena (GOR), Kuningan, Jakarta, on Friday, June 19, 2026.

Pelita Jaya Jakarta coach, David Singleton, said that they had prepared very well, had recovered their physical condition, had sharpened the technical and mental aspects for a very decisive phase.

"I'm really excited with our position right now. We have a good rhythm and momentum. Now we just need to get on the field and make it happen," said Singleton when met in Jakarta while leading the team's training as the last preparation.

Pelita Jaya returned to the top party after eliminating Dewa United Banten with a score of 3-1. The result was also Pelita Jaya's revenge for last year's failure to lift the IBL title due to losing 1-2 in a best-of-three format.

Singleton said that Hornbills are certainly the same heavy opponents for them this year. He assessed that the team has a great opportunity to bury their dreams because they have proven their quality so far in the competition this season.

"They have done a great job, they have stayed true to their process, they believe in their players, and they have done a really good job of winning games," he said.

This is the sixth consecutive final achieved by Pelita Jaya Jakarta. In the previous five occasions, they only once climbed to the highest podium, namely when they managed to beat Satria Muda in the 2024 edition.

Pelita Jaya player Brandon Jawato said his team had maximized preparations through match evaluations and was ready to perform at home. The first two home games will also try to maximize them.

"The preparation is very good. We watched the match videos. My friends are also in a state of readiness to give their best in their home performance. We are confident," he said.

Hornbills will compete in the IBL final for the first time in the franchise's history. In addition, they also made a record by becoming the first team from Bogor in the history of the IBL to compete for the league championship title.

Bogor Hornbills qualified for the top party after successfully eliminating Satria Muda Pertamina Bandung with a score of 3-1 in the playoff. However, they have never won from Pelita Jaya in nine meetings since 2022 (0-9).
