Polda DIY Clarifies the Incident of Intelligence Officers at UMY
YOGYAKARTA - The Yogyakarta Special Region Police (DIY) responded to the incident of a police intelligence member who was temporarily secured by students in the environment of the Yogyakarta Muhammadiyah University (UMY) after a demonstration on Wednesday (17/6).
Head of Public Relations of the DIY Police, Kombes Ihsan, confirmed that the intelligence officers who were secured were personnel from the DIY Police who were on duty in securing public opinion delivery.
"That was the officer who was involved in the service order for the delivery of public opinion yesterday," said Ihsan as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, June 18.
According to him, the presence of personnel at the location is part of the monitoring task to ensure that the participants return to campus safely.
Ihsan explained that members who were at the location, both in uniform and civilian clothes, were part of the implementation of escort and service tasks for action participants.
"Members who are at the location are part of the implementation of services to escort and ensure that the participants return to campus in a safe and secure condition," he said.
He said that the misunderstanding between the students and the police had been resolved humanistically through communication and coordination with the rectorate and students.
According to Ihsan, the current situation has been conducive and the members concerned have returned to the DIY Police.
The DIY Police also expressed their appreciation to the rectorate and students for the communication and coordination that was established so that the problem could be resolved properly.
On the same day, the DIY Police provided security services for the rally held by the Aliansi UMY Bergerak (AUB) and UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta students in the Yogyakarta Kilometer Zero Point area.
According to Ihsan, the action was attended by around 470 participants from the UMY Movement Alliance and UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta.
He explained that security was carried out from the departure of the masses until the participants returned to their respective campuses by prioritizing a persuasive and humanistic approach.
In addition, police personnel carried out traffic arrangements around the location of the action to maintain the smoothness of community activities.
