Wes Borland Speaks Out on Sam Rivers' Departure: We Lost a Part of Limp Bizkit's DNA

JAKARTA - Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland has finally spoken out about the deep grief that still surrounds him after almost six months of the departure of bassist Sam Rivers.

Borland admitted that he was very emotional and still had difficulty talking about the great loss.

As is known, Sam Rivers, who co-founded Limp Bizkit in 1994, breathed his last in October 2026 at the age of 48.

Since then, Limp Bizkit's personnel have rarely spoken in public about the departure of the bass guitarist, until Borland finally expressed his feelings.

"He's like family. I'll try not to cry. It's really like we lost a part of our DNA. It's really hard to talk about this in depth right now," Borland said in a recent interview with Consequence.

Even though the bass position on the tour stage is currently filled by Richie Buxton from Ecca Vandal, Borland emphasized that Sam Rivers' figure can never be replaced by anyone in the band. For him and the other personnel, Rivers is the heartbeat of Limp Bizkit's music.

"Sam is not a replaceable person. He is our heartbeat. It's emotional to talk about this. I think when it happened last year, we were all in a state of shock, and now we are all grieving," said the guitarist.

Previously, vocalist Fred Durst also paid emotional tribute through a video shortly after Rivers' death.

Durst described the late man as very talented, sweet, and extraordinary. The band also stated that Rivers' spirit would always live on in every note of their music and memories.

Currently, Limp Bizkit is busy with a schedule of stages at various summer festivals in Europe, including appearances at Download Festival. The band from the United States is also scheduled to perform at other major festivals such as Louder Than Life and Aftershock, while continuing to carry the musical legacy left by Sam Rivers.
