ICRC Facilitates Transfer of Palestinian Prisoners to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Gaza Strip
JAKARTA - The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on Wednesday said it had facilitated the transfer of three prisoners released from the Kerem Shalom crossing to the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the Gaza Strip.
The committee said in a press release that they also facilitated contact between the released prisoners with their families and their reunification, reported by WAFA (18/6).
Furthermore, the ICRC explained, since 2023, they have helped the transfer of more than 2,500 prisoners who were released through this mechanism.
The ICRC stressed that they have not been able to access Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli detention facilities since October 2023.
The agency again called for their right to be informed about the fate and whereabouts of all prisoners, as well as permission to visit and monitor their conditions.
The committee stressed the need to treat prisoners humanely in accordance with international humanitarian law, ensure decent detention conditions, and allow them to stay in contact with their families.
The ICRC noted that many Palestinian families anxiously awaited news about their relatives detained amid concerns about their health and safety, adding that it continued to engage in dialogue with the Israeli authorities to resume visits to all Palestinian prisoners.
