Chery prepares a new Stockman pickup truck that carries a PHEV diesel engine

JAKARTA - Chery, a Chinese manufacturer known for its advanced SUVs, will continue to expand its models, but this time it is preparing a pickup truck branded Stockman.

Citing the Drive website, Thursday, June 18, interestingly, the above model will pack a diesel PHEV engine and will arrive at the showroom by the end of this year, which is designed for the global medium-sized truck market.

The vehicle has a length of 5,450 mm, a width of 1,920 mm, and a height of 1,925 mm based on regulatory platform parameters. The exterior design features a wide horizontal grille flanked by circular LED headlight units and a widened bumper.

Interior equipment includes a dual infotainment screen mounted in the ceiling, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an electronic gear shifter. The cabin architecture also integrates passenger facilities, including a panoramic sunroof, heated seats, and automatic climate control.

The model uses a plug-in hybrid parallel-series architecture, featuring a 2.5-liter twin-turbocharged diesel engine that produces 210 kW (282 hp) of power and 650 Nm of torque.

This internal combustion configuration achieves a recorded thermal efficiency of 47 percent. The system is connected to a rear-mounted battery pack designed to provide a pure electric operating range of 170 km.

Stockman is one of more than 20,000 potential badge names put forward by Australians as part of a public naming competition, a list whittled down by Chery to nine finalists last month. Stockman's badge is named after someone who looks after livestock on a farm.
