Wearing Hijab in the Film Tanah Sengketa, Mita The Virgin: I Was Afraid of Pro-Kontra

JAKARTA - Musician Mita The Virgin brings a surprise in her acting comeback through the latest film titled Tanah Sengketa. The reason is, the owner of the original name Cameria Happy Pramita looks different by wearing a hijab, a challenge that he has always avoided.

"Moreover, here is the first time for Mita personally to be given the challenge to wear a hijab. So for me, I have always been nolakin, there is a role to wear a hijab, but in this film, I don't know why I want to explore it," said Mita The Virgin in Jakarta, Wednesday, June 17.

Mita admitted that she was hesitant when she received the offer. He was worried about public perception because in everyday life he did not wear a veil.

"Yes, if I'm nervous because I'm told to wear a hijab, that's it. The reason is that I'm afraid I'll be pro-contra because I'm not really wearing a hijab. So it's a little nervous too," he continued honestly.

In this film, Mita plays the character of Lina, a village girl who has a naive personality. Therefore, the style of hijab displayed is also adjusted to the background of her character.

"Lina is actually a village girl. So she wants to be a little bit more traditional, like the villages. It's a little naive, not stylish. Simple, simple," said Dara's duet partner.

In order to get the right look, Mita was helped by a costume team who meticulously arranged her hijab to look natural as a local resident on the set.

"The stylist, yes, thank God, he was also helped, there was a team from the wardrobe, whether it was Elvina who liked to wear me a hijab," he added.

Although he felt nervous, Mita hoped that his acting this time would be well received by fans and connoisseurs of local films.

"Hopefully, it can be enjoyed by the people of Indonesia. Moreover, the movie is great, so it has to be adapted again," said Mita humbly.

Dara The Virgin also gave her support for Mita's decision to explore this role. He said the atmosphere on the set was very helpful in their adaptation process.

"Here it's more fun and more family-like, it's like, it's like a brother. At first it was from Mita, I was offered a movie," explained Dara.

The film Tanah Sengketa itself is the fourth film for the duo The Virgin and marks their return to the big screen after being absent since 2017.

"Actually this is his fourth film The Virgin, thank God. It's just been a long time since we haven't played a movie. From 2017 this is a new film, the latest film again," concluded Mita.

The film Tanah Sengketa, produced by the Ocean Production production house and directed by Muda Saleh and Sadly Fafa Rachman, will begin airing on June 25 at cinemas in Indonesia.
