Execution of Ex-Hotel Sultan Begins, Joint Personnel Deployed

JAKARTA - A total of 3,161 joint personnel were deployed to secure the implementation of the execution of the evacuation of the former Sultan Hotel by the bailiff of the Central Jakarta District Court, Thursday, June 18, 2026.

Head of the Public Relations Section of the Central Jakarta Metro Police, Kompol Erlyn Sumantri, said that thousands of personnel came from the TNI, Polri, and local government elements.

"For the security of the execution of the former Sultan, the number of personnel deployed is 3,161 personnel," said Erlyn.

Security was carried out to anticipate potential disturbances during the execution process of the area, which has been the object of dispute between the state and PT Indobuildco.

It is known that this execution was carried out after the Central Jakarta District Court rejected PT Indobuildco's lawsuit against the Minister of State Secretary c.q. the Center for the Management of the Bung Karno Arena Complex (PPKGBK) regarding the management of the Sultan Hotel. The decision in the case number 208/Pdt.G/2025/PN.Jkt.Pst. which was read through e-court on November 28, 2025 stated that the state through the Land Management Rights (HPL) Number 1/Gelora as the legitimate owner of the area.

The court also stated that the building right (HGB) of the Sultan Hotel had been removed for the law since 2023. Therefore, PT Indobuildco is required to vacate the entire area of the Sultan Hotel, including the land and buildings on it. The decision is enforceable by stock or can be implemented immediately.

On another occasion, Deputy Minister of State Secretary (Wamensesneg) Bambang Eko Suhariyanto emphasized that the land of the former Sultan Hotel was a state asset that was released by the government around 1959 for the purpose of holding the IV Asian Games.

According to Bambang, the government is carrying out President Prabowo Subianto's instructions to return state assets that have been controlled by other parties to be under state control.

"The President conveyed that we must withdraw government assets, state assets that have been controlled by other parties. All assets must be under the control of the government and the state," he said.

He added that for about 50 years the area was used by PT Indobuildco.

"It can be said that Indobuildco has had the privilege for 50 years to control this asset. In the future, this strategic asset must be utilized as much as possible for the prosperity and welfare of the people," he said.

However, the government has not determined the use of the area after the emptying process is complete.

"We don't know until now. The important thing now is to focus on execution," said Bambang.
