Today Gibran invites students to join a working visit to NTT, Gorontalo, and Papua

JAKARTA - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka invited a number of student representatives from various universities to participate in a working visit to a number of regions in Indonesia on June 18-21, 2026.

This step is taken to give students the opportunity to see firsthand the implementation of government priority programs as well as to convey input directly from the field.

The students who took part in the Vice President's entourage came from Pelita Harapan University (UPH), Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed), University of Indonesia (UI), Indonesian Institute of Cultural Arts (ISBI), and Sanata Dharma University.

Before departing from the Halim Perdanakusuma Ops Base, Jakarta, Thursday, June 18, Gibran expressed his appreciation to students who have been active in providing criticism, suggestions, and input on various government policies.

"First I would like to thank all fellow students throughout Indonesia. Thank you for conveying your aspirations peacefully. Thank you for your constructive input, especially regarding MBG and cooperatives," said Gibran.

According to Gibran, the presence of students in the working visit is a form of openness of the government to public participation, especially the younger generation, in overseeing the implementation of national strategic programs.

He hopes that students can see the conditions on the ground, ranging from the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Program to the development of the Red and White Village Cooperative, which is currently the focus of the government.

"Yes, today we are accompanied by several student representatives. We will go to Ende, Gorontalo, and also Papua. So, the government is committed to continue to improve the governance of MBG and cooperatives. We ensure that every rupiah is really well utilized, and also most importantly free from corrupt practices. I think these steps are important to maintain public trust," he said.

Gibran assessed that the involvement of students can be a means of supervision as well as a constructive dialogue space between the government and the academic community.

During the working visit, the Vice President is scheduled to visit East Nusa Tenggara Province, Gorontalo, West Papua, Central Papua, and South Papua.

Ende Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, is the first destination of the visit. In this area, Gibran will review the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal Program as well as the development of plans to establish the Red and White Village Cooperative.

Based on information from the Bureau of Press, Media, and Information (BPMI) of the Vice President's Secretariat, the Vice President's entourage took off from the Halim Perdanakusuma Ops Base at 06.00 WIB.

This working visit is also part of the government's efforts to strengthen synergy between the central government, local governments, and the community in carrying out various national priority programs in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto's directions.

During the visit, Gibran was accompanied by Acting Deputy Presidential Secretary Al Muktabar and Special Staff to the Vice President Nicolaus TB Harjanto.
