Evaluation of the 2026 Hajj, the DPR investigates the geopolitical risks of the Middle East

BOGOR - The success of the 2026 Hajj is considered not to make the government and the DPR complacent in facing the next Hajj season. One of the concerns that emerged was actually coming from the geopolitical conditions in the Middle East which still have the potential to affect the implementation of the Hajj.

Deputy Chairman of Commission VIII of the DPR and member of the DPR Hajj Supervisory Team, Abidin Fikri, conveyed this after attending a meeting with President Prabowo Subianto together with the leadership of the DPR and the Ministry of Hajj at the Garuda Yaksa Paddepokan, Hambalang, Bogor, Wednesday (17/6).

According to Abidin, the DPR has conveyed the results of supervision of the implementation of the 2026 hajj and appreciated the work of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah which was considered capable of carrying out its duties well.

However, he reminded that the challenges of organizing the Hajj in the future do not only come from the aspect of services, but also from the development of the situation in the Middle East region.

"In the future Hajj challenges, of course, because of the geopolitical conditions in the Middle East, which hopefully will continue to improve," said Abidin.

He hopes that the stability of the region will be maintained so that next year's Hajj can take place better.

In addition, the DPR also noted that there were still a number of questions and input from pilgrims regarding Hajj services that needed to be the government's attention.

According to Abidin, communication between the DPR and the Ministry of Hajj will continue to be carried out to evaluate various aspects of the congregation's services.

"We will continue to communicate and evaluate regarding the improvement of Indonesian Hajj services," he said.

Abidin also expressed his appreciation to President Prabowo, who was considered to have given great attention to the implementation of the hajj and the improvement of service quality for Indonesian pilgrims.

The meeting in Hambalang was part of the evaluation of the implementation of the 2026 hajj as well as the initial discussion of various challenges that will be faced in the next hajj season.
