LLDikti Region III encourages Higher Education Institutions to strengthen their reputation through Public Relations and Protocol
JAKARTA - The Higher Education Service Agency (LLDikti) Region III encourages universities to strengthen the role of public relations and protocol as the spearhead in building the reputation of institutions in the midst of increasingly tight higher education competition.
Head of LLDikti Region III, Dr. Henri Tambunan, S.E., M.A., said public relations had a strategic role in introducing various campus achievements to the public. According to him, many achievements, research results, to university innovations that are worthy of public knowledge, but have not been optimally conveyed.
"The role of public relations is very strategic. We need to continue to learn how to convey the information that the community needs so that universities are increasingly known and trusted," said Henri.
He assessed that the success of a university is not only determined by academic quality, but also the institution's ability to build effective communication with the public and stakeholders.
Therefore, Henri encouraged each university to continue to improve the capacity of human resources in the field of public relations and protocol so that they are able to respond to the challenges of communication in the digital era.
Similarly, the Rector of the University of Muhammadiyah Jakarta (UMJ), Prof. Dr. Ma'mun Murod, M.Si., said that the protocol is an important part that reflects the quality of the institution's governance.
According to him, the image of the campus is not only formed through facilities and academic achievements, but also through professionalism in the implementation of various official activities.
"The face of the campus is not only visible from facilities and infrastructure, but is also reflected in the protocol. Therefore, a good protocol standard needs to be owned by every university," he said.
Ma'mun added that strengthening the public relations and protocol functions will help universities build public trust while strengthening the position of institutions in the midst of increasingly dynamic competition.
This commitment is one of the focuses in the Coordination Meeting for Public Relations and University Protocol held by LLDikti Region III at the University of Muhammadiyah Jakarta on June 17-18, 2026.
The activity, which was attended by around 200 participants from various universities in the LLDikti Region III, discussed a number of strategic issues, ranging from crisis management of communication, strengthening the reputation of institutions, excellent service, to good practices in the management of public relations and university protocols.
On this occasion, LLDikti Region III also launched a pocket book of protocols as a common guide in supporting the professional and institutional standard management of activities.
