SKKL Rising 8 Held, Indonesia's Digital Connectivity is Getting More Reliable

JAKARTA - PT Ketrosden Triasmitra, Tbk (IDX: KETR) and PT Ekamas Mora Republik, Tbk ("MoraRepublic" or IDX: MORA) managed to build the Rising 8 Submarine Cable Communication System (SKKL) in May 2026.

Today, the ceremonial operation of the SKKL was carried out which was attended by telecommunications business actors.

The segment that has been held is the first segment of Jakarta - Batam, while the Batam - Singapore segment will be the next project. This system has passed the testing and commissioning phase and is ready to serve the needs of Digital Indonesia connectivity.

Rising 8 is a 1,128.5-kilometer undersea cable system connecting Jakarta (Tanjung

Pakis) - Batam (Tanjung Bemban) to extension to Singapore. This SKKL uses repeatered system technology and is available for telecommunications operators as well as enterprises that require high-quality connectivity paths.

The operation of Rising 8 adds an option for connectivity in the Indonesia-Singapore corridor, one of the busiest digital routes in Southeast Asia. The availability of this alternative route is important for network redundancy and service continuity, especially for operators and companies that run critical applications for operations.

"Rising 8 is now ready for service. We believe that Rising 8 will be a solid choice for customers who need reliable connections both domestically and abroad. This is the result of the team's cooperation over the past few years, starting from planning, deployment, to testing and commissioning," said President Director and CEO of PT Ketrosden Triasmitra, Tbk, Titus Dondi Patria in a written statement, Wednesday, June 17.

"And in the Rising 8 project, for the first time we have carried out the deployment of SKKL independently from licensing, ship use, to expert personnel. So we are very confident in working on the next SKKL deployment projects," he continued.

The Rising 8 submarine cable communication system uses submarine cables from Prysmian Group, through its production plant, namely Norddeutsche Seekabelwerke GmbH (NSW), Germany, a global manufacturer with more than 125 years of experience in submarine cable technology, and is integrated with the best high-quality repeater in its class, which is designed to support a minimum capacity of 400 Tbps.

As a supporter of the network connectivity ecosystem, Rising 8 will be integrated with the MoraRepublic Nusantara Data Center (NDC) located in Tanjung Bemban - Batam, with Tier-3 certification from the American National Standard Institute/Telecommunications Industry Association.

In addition, the main landing point of Rising 8 in Jakarta is also equipped with a Cable Landing Station and Data Center facilities.

The Center in Tanjung Pakis owned by Triasmitra with Tier-3 concurrently maintainable specifications which allows infrastructure maintenance to be carried out without disrupting service continuity. The President Director and CEO of PT Ekamas Mora Republik, Tbk, Timotius Max Sulaiman added, the completion of the deployment of the Jakarta-Batam segment is an important step in its efforts to build a digital infrastructure that is able to support Indonesia's current and future needs.

"Strong telecommunications infrastructure not only improves the quality of connectivity, but also becomes a catalyst for digital economic growth and acceleration of digital access equity in

"Indonesia, so it has a sustainable impact on communities and businesses in various regions. This step is also in line with the government's efforts to accelerate the national digital transformation," he said.

The presence of Rising 8 is expected to improve the quality of digital services for the Indonesian people. With large capacity, activities such as banking transactions, online shopping, online learning, to working and communicating from home can run more smoothly by minimizing connectivity disruptions.

Rising 8 complements the existing connectivity ecosystem by providing a diversity of lanes for Indonesian-Singapore traffic.

For operators who are already using existing lines, Rising 8 can serve as a backup or for load sharing. For companies, the availability of dual lines means lower downtime risk. This means reducing the risk of service outages that can hinder daily activities that increasingly rely on internet connections.

The target market of Rising 8 includes telecommunications operators, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), content providers, and companies with high bandwidth needs such as financial services, cloud providers,

and data center operators. This SKKL route is strategic because Singapore is a regional digital center with a high concentration of data centers and cloud infrastructure.

With the operation of Rising 8, Triasmitra and MoraRepublic strengthen their position in the international connectivity market. Both companies see good growth potential given the increasing demand for bandwidth in the Indonesia-Singapore corridor, driven by the expansion of cloud services, corporate digitization, and the growth of digital services.

It is hoped that the presence of Rising 8 will not only build connectivity, but also encourage sustainable impact through accelerating the equalization of digital access in Indonesia, strengthening economic competitiveness, and developing an increasingly integrated and inclusive digital ecosystem.
