Choose to Focus on Domestic Affairs, Prabowo Cancels Visit to Russia
BOGOR - President Prabowo Subianto chose to focus on completing a number of domestic agendas and did not continue plans to visit Russia in the near future.
Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said the decision was made after the President considered various national agendas that still needed immediate attention.
"He has his own considerations because there are still many things that he wants to focus on in the country," said Prasetyo Hadi at the Garuda Yaksa Training Center, Hambalang, Bogor, Wednesday (17/6).
According to Prasetyo, this decision does not reduce Indonesia's commitment to cooperation with Russia. Moreover, Prabowo had previously met with Russian President Vladimir Putin and discussed various strategic issues.
From the meeting, a number of cooperation commitments have entered the technical follow-up phase.
Prasetyo also revealed that communication with friendly countries is still ongoing. A number of discussions related to bilateral relations, including with Russia, were also carried out in various ASEAN high-level meetings attended by the President.
At the same time, the President carried out a number of domestic agendas, including receiving reports on the implementation of the 2026 hajj from Commission VIII of the DPR, the hajj supervisory team, and the Ministry of Hajj.
In addition, the President summoned a number of ministers to report on the progress of the government's priority programs.
The President's decision to postpone the agenda to Russia at the same time shows the government's current focus is still on completing various domestic agendas, ranging from public services to strengthening national strategic programs.
