Tyson Fury Wants to Duel with Anthony Joshua Soon
JAKARTA - Former world heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, wants a fight against his compatriot, Anthony Joshua, to be realized. It is a duel that has long been awaited by boxing fans around the world.
This was conveyed by Fury when he was a special guest in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States at the White House at the weekend. Present at the event was UFC President and owner of Zuffa Boxing, Dana White.
The fighter nicknamed the Gypsy King admitted that he was very enthusiastic to undergo a fight against Joshua who has been awaited by many people for more than a decade.
"I'm very excited for this fight. It's been more than 10 years that this plan has been in process. I don't know why it didn't happen before. Hopefully now it can be realized soon," he said quoted from BBC Sport.
On that occasion, the British boxer was also interviewed by UFC commentator Jon Anik, regarding the possibility of a major announcement that had something to do with White. Fury also chose to hand over details to White, but made sure the news was very big.
"I think I'll let Dana White do the talking, but this is a very, very big announcement," he said.
Fury also signaled that White could potentially be involved in promoting the fight with Joshua. The clash of the two names is targeted to take place at the end of 2026.
"One hundred percent potentially, yes," Fury said when asked if White would be part of the promoter of the duel.
White previously claimed that he would handle the promotion of Joshua versus Fury. However, this claim was repeatedly denied by Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn, as well as Fury's promoter, Frank Warren.
Fury was previously under Warren's Queensberry Promotions. However, in an Instagram post earlier this week, he actually said that he would be promoted by Saudi Arabian businessman Turki Alalshikh for the rest of his career.
If he does join Zuffa Boxing, Fury will be the biggest recruit for the company. Zuffa Boxing was founded by White with the support of Saudi Arabian funds to challenge the dominance of major promoters in the world of boxing.
Zuffa previously made a splash by signing British welterweight boxer Conor Benn from Matchroom in February 2026. They have also secured several other big names, including IBF cruiserweight world champion Jai Opetaia.
Fury has a professional record of 35 wins, two defeats from Oleksandr Usyk, and one draw against Deontay Wilder. He had retired before returning to the ring and winning against Arslanbek Makhmudov in April 2026.
Before facing Joshua, Fury has plans to undergo one potential fight in August 2026. Joshua must also first pass the match against Kristian Prenga on July 25, 2026 in Saudi Arabia.
