KPK Confident Attorney General's Office Holds Data on MBG Corruption Case: That's All It Used

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) believes that the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) has complete data regarding the alleged corruption of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).

This was conveyed by the Chairman of the KPK Setyo Budiyanto when asked about the possibility of handing over data from the investigation of the MBG corruption case to the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung).

The KPK is reported to have conducted an investigation into the alleged corruption of the MBG program since the beginning of the year. However, the Attorney General's Office then first named a suspect in the same case, one of whom was the former Head of BGN Dadan Hindayana.

"In my opinion, if the Attorney General's Office already has it, it has even conducted an examination, it has even named a suspect, and I believe that maybe from BPKP (has submitted, ed) it may also have submitted a report on the results of its audit examination, yes, maybe that's all that can be used," said Setyo to reporters at the State Administration Agency (LAN) building, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, June 17.

However, the KPK is said to be ready to coordinate with the Attorney General's Office regarding the investigation of the alleged corruption of MBG. "Unless their investigators need it, yes, there must be communication," he said.

However, until now there has been no call for coordination. "There has been no communication," said Setyo, who had served as the KPK's Director of Investigation.

Previously, the acting director of the KPK Investigation Directorate, Taufik Ahmad Husein, confirmed that there was an investigation into the alleged corruption of the Free Nutritious Meal Program by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) before the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) named a suspect.

"Yes, we have indeed been investigating," Taufik told reporters at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Monday evening, June 8.

Meanwhile, regarding the follow-up to this investigation, Taufik did not say much. He only said that because the Attorney General's Office had first named a suspect, the KPK was now just waiting.

"So we will see the synergy for the investigation processes," he said.

The KPK, he continued, will also carry out a trial or expose. This step is also to ensure follow-up on the findings that have been obtained during the investigation.

"We will wait for the title of the case, how the leadership decides," said Taufik.
