Menhut Launches DSS to Maintain Forests to Facilitate Forest Management
JAKARTA - Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni launched the Decision Support System Jaga Rimba application to facilitate data-based forest management in Indonesia.
Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni said this application is an initiative step for digital transformation from the ministry's internal and general directorates to realize "one man policy" or one person policy against the complexity of Indonesia's forest governance which requires fast, accurate, transparent and accountable information.
"So this idea is simple, but I think it has a historical urgency to improve our performance. So this DSS is simple, not just an application, we try to fix our way of thinking. We must no longer be sectoral egos," said Raja Antoni at the launch of the DSS Jaga Rimba in Jakarta, Wednesday, June 17, reported by ANTARA.
Raja Antoni said that previously the Ministry of Forestry had as many as 300 applications managed by each director general for the administration of forest management, including land use permits.
With the DSS Jaga Rimba, it is hoped that all information will be integrated into one application that can be monitored directly by the minister and can be accessed by all related directorate units.
He also hopes that this platform can make major improvisations and improvements to forest management policies and that there will be no more overlapping use of unlicensed land so that Indonesian forests can be maintained as the home of the Indonesian nation.
"Hopefully, with this DSS, we can provide outsiders with ease of doing business, so that it is easier, more comfortable, investments are more measurable, permits are simplified in time, more accountable, there are no problems later," said Raja Juli.
This initiative is in line with the development of the Asta Citra President 2025-2029, especially in strengthening digital governance, developing "smart government" and implementing an electronic-based government system.
DSS Jaga Rimba will provide data in the form of geospatial information that integrates all information from all ministries and nine directorates-general, which can become the basis for policymaking and decision-making.
This system is equipped with various features, including monitoring the licensing process, analysis of rules and regulations for indications of overlapping licensing, monitoring forest management, and an early warning system for monitoring vegetation and changes in forest cover earlier which is updated every two weeks.
DSS Jaga Rimba also provides "real time" analysis of forest fire monitoring so that supervision and problem-solving steps can be carried out faster.
