Russian Diplomat Slams German Military Chief over NATO Threat
JAKARTA - The Permanent Representative of Russia to the International Organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, mocked the German Air Force Commander Holger Neumann regarding his statement regarding the possibility of a NATO attack on Kaliningrad in the event of a war with Russia.
Ulyanov's statement was made on Wednesday, June 17, in response to Neumann's interview with the newspaper The Telegraph.
Ulyanov responded to the upload of political scientist Glenn Diesen on the social media platform X which included a screenshot of the interview.
In his post, Diesen assessed that Germany was threatening Russia with war. He said that was how "World War III began".
"He (Neumann) must be a very experienced German general, who has fought and won many battles, if he makes such a statement," Ulyanov wrote on X, quoted by Sputnik.
Previously, Neumann told The Telegraph that NATO would attack Kaliningrad, the Kola Peninsula, St. Petersburg, and the Black Sea region in the event of a conflict with Russia.
The chairman of the Russian State Duma's International Affairs Committee Leonid Slutsky also commented on the interview.
He assessed that Germany was "hitting Russia's military fist" and dragging NATO towards "nuclear apocalypse."
