Transjabodetabek Tariff Increase Not Decided, Transjakarta Explains Its Considerations

JAKARTA - The plan to adjust the Transjabodetabek service tariff has not yet reached a final decision. PT Transjakarta said there were many aspects that must be studied before the proposed tariff increase was decided by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, ranging from the financial condition of the region, the quality of services to the ability of the community to pay.

Transjakarta President Director Welfizon Yuza said discussions regarding the Transjabodetabek tariff are still ongoing and the final decision will be made by the Governor of DKI Jakarta.

"It's still being discussed, later the Governor will convey it. It's still being discussed. Of course we listen to all inputs, later let the Governor convey it," Welfizon told reporters, Wednesday, June 17.

According to him, the discussion process takes time because a number of factors must be considered carefully so that the policies taken do not burden the community while still maintaining the sustainability of public transportation services.

"There are many things to consider. There is fiscal, service, community conditions, ability to pay, willingness to pay," said Welfizon.

"When we propose, all considerations must be comprehensive. From the fiscal side, from the service side, from the cost of production, but the most important thing is also from the perspective of people's purchasing power, people's conditions. All will be studied comprehensively," he continued.

Later, the discussion of the Transjabodetabek tariff increase was widely discussed on social media. In fact, there is news that the service tariff will increase to Rp. 10,000 per trip. However, Welfizon emphasized that the figure has never been decided because the entire scheme is still in the discussion stage.

When asked about the possibility of the Rp10,000 tariff being implemented, Welfizon reiterated that there was no decision. "I don't know. The people's purchasing power is also considered," he said.

Welfizon admitted that the evaluation of tariffs was still ongoing even though the three-month deadline for reviewing the new tariffs set by the Governor of DKI Jakarta had passed. During the evaluation period, the Transjakarta service tariff will continue to refer to the regular tariff that is currently in effect.

"No, it still uses subsidy funds, but the tariff is still using the 3,500 tariff, the regular tariff. Wait, be patient a little longer. It will definitely be announced when it is completed. It also needs socialization, so it is impossible to apply tomorrow," said Welfizon.

On the other hand, Welfizon ensures that every adjustment to the tariff will be followed by an increase in services to customers. However, the form of service improvement is still being finalized with various stakeholders.
