The Palace Explains Steps to Strengthen Public and Market Trust After Student Demonstrations

JAKARTA - The government has revealed a number of steps to strengthen public confidence and economic actors in the midst of student demonstrations that have taken place in recent days. These efforts are carried out through strengthening coordination between agencies, deregulation of permits, acceleration of investment, to the development of downstream and industrialization programs.

The Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi said the government continues to strive to maintain national economic stability while strengthening the positive perception of the public and the market towards the Indonesian economy.

"We are all continuing to work to strengthen coordination, strengthen cooperation, and especially to take policies that we hope can strengthen our currency, strengthen public perception, strengthen market perception," said Prasetyo in his statement, Tuesday, January 16.

According to Prasetyo, strengthening coordination across ministries and agencies is one of the government's focuses to ensure that various economic policies run effectively and have a positive impact on national stability.

Prasetyo said that one of the indicators showing investor confidence in Indonesia is still strong is the success of the Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI) in issuing global bonds or global bonds worth US$ 1.5 billion.

He assessed that the high interest of investors from various regions, including the United States (US), Europe, and Asia, was a positive signal that Indonesia's economic prospects still had the confidence of the international market.

According to him, this achievement reflects investors' confidence in the stability of the national economy and the government's policy direction in maintaining long-term economic growth.

In addition to maintaining global market confidence, the government is also working to increase public confidence through regulation simplification and business licensing ease.

Prasetyo said President Prabowo Subianto has consistently instructed government officials to accelerate deregulation so that the investment climate in Indonesia is more competitive.

"Regarding the problem of deregulation that the President has said many times, we must continue to work to make it easier for us to obtain permits so that the investment climate, our economic ecosystem can develop much more competitively," he said.

The government hopes that the simplification of the licensing process can encourage the entry of new investments, expand employment, and improve the competitiveness of the national economy in the midst of increasingly tight global competition.

Prasetyo also emphasized that President Prabowo pays great attention to the downstream and industrialization programs as a long-term strategy to strengthen the Indonesian economy.

According to him, the strengthening of the rupiah exchange rate cannot be separated from the performance of foreign trade, especially exports and imports. Therefore, the government continues to encourage the processing of natural resources in the country to create greater added value.

In addition to reducing dependence on imported goods, downstream processing is considered capable of increasing state revenues and expanding economic benefits for the community.

"We hope that the products we produce from the process of downstream processing and industrialization can provide added value that brings additional wealth to our nation and country," he said.

In the midst of various global economic challenges and domestic political dynamics, Prasetyo assessed national stability as an important factor in maintaining the investment climate and economic activity.

Therefore, the government invites all elements of society, business actors, and market actors to work together to maintain a conducive situation so that the recovery and strengthening of the economy can run optimally.

"To all people, all market players, all economic actors, let's join hands, we work together, work hard to restore or recover and strengthen our economy," concluded Prasetyo Hadi.
